A severe thunderstorm packing large hailstone and damaging winds is set to hit northern Sydney, the Blue Mountains, Hawkesbury and the Central Coast in the next hour.
The thunderstorm developed over the ranges and is expected to bring winds of up to 90km/h and is likely to drop large hailstones on an area from around Berowra and Glenorie up to the Central Coast around Gosford and Wyong, the Bureau of Meteorology forecasts.
Helen Reid from the Bureau of Meteorology said the storm was moving north-east from Richmond and was expected to hit northern areas of Sydney and cross the Hawkesbury River around 3pm.
“Its current movement is to north-east and it will continue to move to the north of Sydney and impact the Central Coast,” Ms Reid said.
