The heartbroken parents of a three-year-old girl hit by a car on the Gold Coast on Sunday have paid tribute to their “red headed unicorn” after she lost her days-long fight for life.
Luna Matenga had been in Gold Coast University Hospital since Sunday after being struck by the car in Ormeau. Her mother, Jessica Feeney, shared news of her daughter’s passing on social media as she thanked the community for its support.
“With the heaviest of hearts, I want to thank every single person for their prayers and positive vibes for my baby girl,” she wrote on Facebook on Wednesday afternoon.
“She felt it, we felt it, unfortunately at 9.03pm on the 22nd of December we let our beautiful baby girl go, surrounded by her family in the arms of her mummy and daddy. Our hearts are completely broken. Fly high my gorgeous blue eyed, red headed unicorn.”
