Sydneysiders trying to escape the city for the summer holidays can expect delays up and down the NSW coast on Boxing Day, with motorists urged to allow extra travel time as traffic builds up on major highways.

The ban on overseas travel and interstate border closures due to the northern beaches COVID-19 outbreak has meant NSW residents are predicted to converge on regional destinations in record numbers this holiday period.
